John Bennetto

Born in 1963 in Port Moresby, John started training as an Actor from a very early age. He further honed his skills through taking classes at nights and in school breaks, and by performing on stage in a number of Shakespearean and professional Musical Theatre productions. Upon completion of High School in Townsville, John commenced studying the inaugural Associate Diploma of Performing Arts at James Cook University in 1981. He then continued his Drama studies and training at The University of Queensland with a B.A., Drama and History. John left acting for some time after that, when I studied , graduated and worked as a Registered Nurse in many Emergency Departments in South-east Queensland. Never far from acting, John further built upon his performing abilities through skills set workshops and advanced classes at Brisbane Arts Theatre in the '90's and then again in 2015. While cast in lead, support and ensemble roles in all theatre genres, working solidly through 2016 as an actor at Brisbane Arts Theatre, John has also appeared in film and several television commercials. In 2017 John turned Professional/Amateur as the theatre did also, and had his first directing credit for a main-house production in that year with "The Woman In Black".
