Born in Saint-Germain en Laye, Montserrat Castay started writing, directing and acting at the college and then never left these disciplines. After a master's degree, two years of conservatory and numerous master classes, Montserrat writes texts that are used either for literary creations, in theatre or audio-visual productions. She released her first piece of fiction in 1999 (The cousins), followed by several texts which were in the form of live shows. On the graphical side, Montserrat works with watercolor, pastel and pencil. She illustrated "Bombaisers" (2012), "Time for Moms" (2013) and made a series of short animated films. As dramatic artist, she enforced the foundations of her experience with more and more movement and balance. For this, several years practicing opera singing, circus arts, oriental dance and flamenco. She has a creative and bright spirit, coupled with a great artistic sensibility. She is very receptive to the guidance of a director and when the projects put her on the other side of the mirror she carries out this role with great talent. Montserrat is in lights in "Antigone," "The bald singer", "Santa Claus is junk," "Caviar or lentils", "Through the Mirror", "A word to another" and many other works in particular, her show "Ten stacked sand grains" which was selected in Avignon festival in 2014. She acts in three languages: French, Spanish and English. She is also involved in radio dramas of France Télévision group, participates in the TV series "Don't do this, don't do that" from France 2 "Platane" and "Villa karayib" for Canal +, perform French and Spanish television dubbing and is preparing in co-production a series of short films. In 2016 "Lo Vez", will be released, fictional where she has the starring role. In parallel, she provides training to comedians with Gustave Parking and also works with Isabelle Kancel. Montserrat has been a leading member of Guadeloupe Actors Association since 2011 and the artistic director of the theatre company "Finned Grasshoppers" since 2012. At the end of 2015, she entered in Birmingham Theatre and became head of the drama department of this private and dynamic structure. Her latest creations are "Pitaya", for children and "Fantastic tales" for adults and teenagers. Right now she's director for the singer "Simone Paulin" and is creating a musical show about madness with the painter and musician Christian Sabas.
