J. Randall was born in Sacramento, California, the son of Barbara (Zachary) and Joseph G. Randall, an award winning Chef who recently was inducted into the Smithsonian Institute's National Museum of African American History and Culture. After growing up in both South Central Los Angeles and Claremont, California, the family relocated to suburban Baltimore, Maryland where J. attended Franklin High School. During his time at Franklin, J. was enrolled in Gifted and Talented Art, took up theatre, while also excelling in varsity football. After turning down multiple scholarship offers from smaller FCS Schools, J. went to study at The University of South Carolina, Columbia and walked on to the Gamecock Football Team. Following a brief stint there he would transfer to Georgia Southern University where he completed his eligibility as a member of consecutive Southern Conference Champions. After graduating in 2004, J. would later move to Atlanta, GA where he began coaching high school athletics. After that experience he would focus on personal training and compete as an amateur boxer. He entered the industry as a featured football player on the USA Network dramatic series Necessary Roughness. Since joining the arena of film and television, J. has worked as a lead, or supporting actor on several feature films, television pilots, and indies.
