Nadezhda Valeryevna Skardino was born on 27 March 1985 in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She is a professional biathlete who competes for Belarus. Her first year in biathlon was 2003 and she made her World Cup debut in 2007. Skardino is known for her stable, solid shooting. The Belarusian relay team can always count on her good performance. She participated in 2 Winter Olympic Games - in Vancouver in 2010 and in Sochi in 2014. Skardino won a bronze Olympic medal in the 15 km Individual in 2014 in Sochi. She shared the podium with her teammate, the gold medalist Darya Domracheva. In the other disciplines, Skardino finished 17th in the sprint, 13th in the pursuit, 15th in the mass start and 5th in the relay. Aside from winning a medal, in Sochi she demonstrated much more potential in comparison to her performance in 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. Skardino then placed 28th in the Individual and sprint, 26th in the pursuit, 22nd in the mass start and 7th in the relay. Nadezhda Skardino won one medal from World Championships over he years - a bronze with the relay in 2011 in Khanty-Mansyisk. Her best individual result from World Championships is 4th in the 15 km Individual race. Skardino's best overall finish is 17th in 2013-2014. She placed twice 18th in the overall in 2012-2013 and 2014-2015. In the World Cup Skardino has 5 individual podiums. She has been once 2nd in the pursuit in Antholz-Anterselva and three times 3rd in the Individual and sprint in Sochi and Pokljuka in 2013-2014 and in the mass start in 2014-2015 in Pokljuka. Not on the podium but in the Top 10, Skardino has twice been 4th in Individual events in 2011 and 2014, once 5th in the mass start in 2015 and 5 times 6th. She concluded the 2015-2016 season in the Top 20 at number 19.
