Born on 4 February 1978 in Poprad, Slovakia, Hurajt is the most successful retired biathlete his country ever produced. He made his World Cup debut on 8 December 1999. Hurajt participated in three Winter Olympic Games - in 2006, 2010 and 2014. The highlight in his entire career was winning a bronze Olympic medal in the 15 km mass start event in 2010 in Vancouver. Those Games were the most successful of all. He landed a 5th place in the Individual, 7th in the sprint, 16th in the pursuit and 15th in the relay. Hurajt competed in 12 World Championships during his career from 2000 until 2013. His best individual results from all World Championships are 14th place in the sprint in Ostersund, 13th again in the sprint in 2003 in Khanty-Mansiysk and 19th in the mass start in 2008. Of course when he was with team, he achieved good placings too - 9th in 2008, 10th in Oberhof in 2004 and in 2013 in Czech Republic. On the World Cup tour, Hurajt was twice 3rd - in the sprint in Fort-Kent and the pursuit in Brezno-Osrblie during the 2003-2004 season. He also made one 4th place in the mass start in Fort-Kent in 2003-2004, 5th in the Individual in Antholz-Anterselva in 2009-2010 and twice 8th in the sprint in 2004 and the pursuit in Kontiolahti in 2009-2010. His best overall finish is 19th in the 2003-2004 season. Pavol Hurajt made great accomplishments. He was considered not only a stable shooter but a fast skier. He announced his retirement after the Olympics in 2014.
