Kris Verdonck (1972, Antwerp) studied History (1992-1997) and became early on a journalist and art photographer. Combining the two, he became a director and cinematographer. Stories can be found anywhere, especially in books of forgotten Belgian writers. Doctor Pafke (2014) was based upon the works of JMH Berckmans, Knetterende Schedels (Crackled Skulls, shot in 2016) on the work of Roger Van de Velde. The latter movie was shot in an existing prison in Belgium, a first. 2019: Kris Verdonck is writing a long-player, based on the strange life of writer André Baillon (1875-1932).
