Laura Wiand

Laura was born in Youngstown, OH to Lynne and Charles Wiand and has one brother, Michael Wiand. Laura's mother died when Laura was 14. After attending Austintown Fitch High School, Laura moved to Arlington, VA where she took a double major in Anthropology and History at George Mason University. Laura worked for the National Association of State Boards of Education and at the American Anthropological Association before moving to London, UK to take an MA in Social Anthropology at Goldsmith's College. Laura returned to the US in 2002, and had her first and only child, William Wiand in 2003. Laura managed a no-kill animal shelter for six years before returning to graduate school (California University of Pennsylvania) to pursue a career in school psychology. In 2014 she became a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and an Education Specialist. Meanwhile, Laura has taken several screenwriting programs to foster her knowledge of both the art of screenwriting and of producers' marketing needs when considering a script (Master Screenwriter Class and ProSeries with ScreenwritingU, UCLA's Online Professional Program in Screenwriting).
