Virgil Apostol is an Urban Playwrights United-nominated "Best Actor" and LA Edge Film Awards-nominated "Best Supporting Actor." He was born in Los Angeles, California on June 12, 1964 raised in San Diego, had some schooling in the Philippines, and has lived in Hawai'i and Ohio before returning to Los Angeles to establish a successful acting career. As a teen, Apostol would be enthralled with stories of his maternal grandfather who wrote native playwrights (comedia), taught the actors how to deliver the stanzas through proper cadence and rhythm (daldallot), and instruct the actors in both combat and theatrical sword play (escrima). Inspired, Apostol realized his own sincere attraction to the arts, especially after taking a film course back in college. Coming from lineages of indigenous healers, Apostol has maintained a practice as a manual therapist for over 20 years and has conducted extensive research, written numerous articles, published books, taught classes and workshops locally and abroad, and lectured on the subject at various universities and special functions. These experiences and background instilled in him certain qualities including effective client-therapist relationships, communication skills, intuition, sensitivity, and professionalism that carry over into his acting. In addition, his longtime background in the martial arts and the use of Philippine weaponry serves as a coign of vantage for his character roles in action films and as a budding fight choreographer. Part of Apostol's research included folkloric and spiritual realms, which also carry over to his acting. "When I take on a role, I imbibe the Spirit of that character, including thoughts, emotions, delivery, and soul being," Apostol said. Apostol's artistic talents also include playing the saxophone and bamboo flute, photography, and movie poster art that can be seen on IMDb.
