Philip (Phil) is an award-winning producer, director, and executive producer specializing in factual premium content for prime-time audiences. His most recent directorial venture, a feature-length documentary, Neither Confirm Nor Deny, about a 1970s CIA mission to steal a sunken Soviet nuclear-armed submarine, premiered at DOC NYC in November 2020. The story is now being developed into a feature film by Scott Free Productions. Phil has collaborated on projects with international broadcasters such as HBO, STAR, and MediaCorp, as well as Channel 4 in the UK. His four-part crime investigation series for HBO, Talwars: Behind Closed Doors, premiered in the US in 2019 and became the first non-US series commissioned by HBO to air on its US platform. The series won the Best Documentary Series award at the Asian Academy Creative Awards as well as the Best Foreign Documentary at the 7th China Academy Awards. It is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Phil has also worked with the pan-Asian network, Channel News Asia (CNA), as an executive producer on Race Against Pandemic, a one-hour science-based documentary on the emergence of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The show was broadcast in 2020 and was later sold internationally, as was another series Phil executive produced for CNA titled In Search Of The Frog Boys, an investigative two-part series about one of South Korea's most famous and unsolved murder cases. These two shows had the highest online viewing figures for the network. Phil has previously worked as a director and series producer on Inside The Storm: Lessons from the Boardroom, a four-part series that delves into high profile business collapses. Phil designed and set forth a unique identity and approach for the project, which was commissioned by MediaCorp for broadcast on CNA. He has also directed and produced Channel 4's flagship prime-time investigative series Dispatches where worked alongside high-profile presenters, and covered topics surrounding British society, politics, health, international affairs, and the environment.
