Irem Bekter

Actress, singer-songwriter and dancer, Irem Bekter is born in Istanbul to the visual artist Ayfer Gürsöz, and the former Governor of the Central Bank the Republic of Turkey, Mehmet Sadi Bekter. She studies dance at Elmhurst Ballet School and acting at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in England and then lives for more than ten years in Argentina, where she makes a career in theatre, television, film and music. After settling in Montreal in 2007, she forms the Irem Bekter Quintet, performed on various stages, including the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and releases two albums, Primero and Je suis ici. Irem Bekter is active in Canadian theatre and music scenes.
