E.P. Bergen is a Montreal based artist, who is an electronic music producer, Dj, singer, drummer, songwriter, composer, a co-founder and member of the group Bran Van 3000. At a young age Bergen got interested in music, and in 1986 while still in his teens, MC Mario produced his first single ''I want you baby'' under the pseudonym Erik And The Dänzlab. During this time he became an active musician being a back-up singer for Mitsou as well as working with Virginie. During this time he was seen performing with members of The Nils, Men Without Hats, and The Normals, opening for major acts or regular venues. His first studio eponymous album hit the airwaves in 1992, for which he composed and performed all the songs. In 1994, Bergen was approached by rapper James Di Salvio who at the time was in search of guidance in the music industry, they clicked, and both decided to form the group Bran Van 3000. Shortly after Bergen produced the single ''Go Johnny'' for singer Jean Leloup and DiSalvio was invited to rap on the remix. The song was a major hit and both were hired to make more music for Leloup. In 1997, Bran Van 3000's first single ''Drinking in L.A.'' became an international hit. Their award winning debut album Glee went gold. This established Bergen and his group mates to become both a commercial and critical success. Since their initial breakthrough, Bergen continues to work with Bran Van 3000. Separately from them he collaborated with Carole Laure, Rational Youth, and Anggun. He released three more solo albums Airport Lounge (2004), Angelic Kingdom (2008), and Cooking Jams (2013). He also composed the score of Dead Awake (2001), Swindle (2002), and many TV commercials.
