Susanne Bohlmann was born on February 1, 1978 in Osnabrück, Germany. She is a filmmaker, director and author for cinema and TV. She is known for Pink Elephants (2018), The World at Arm's Length (2018), The Burgis (2022), My hardest way (2019 / ZDF & ARTE), To.Pas - A Ship in the Garden (2016), A Day in their Shoes (2016). Having studied in acting and journalism in 2004 she founded film production company CONKERTREE FILM in Cologne. She published her first book, a collection of mini film screenplays, by the UVK publisher in 2014. Susanne is especially focused on documentaries for cinema & television. The themes of her films always take on new territory but always gravitate to human desire and fissures. Direct Cinema - non-judgmental, observational is her philosophy. Susanne works freelance as a writer, director and editor. In 2014, her first book, a collection of film scenes which she had authored was published by UVK Verlag. Susanne worked on her first feature documentary "Pink Elephants" for over 6 years. This controversial film was, theatrically launched in 2018 by W-Film distribution. Susanne shoots freelance reports and feature documentaries as well as documentary series for ZDF, 3Sat and ARTE, among others.
