Erik de Bruyn is a dutch filmmaker. He is director as well a scriptwriter. In postproduction in 2018: Grenslanders/Floodlanders. He wrote and directed The Heart of Hadiah Tromp ( 2016), a naval musical romantic comedy. Which won eight Awards ( Best Film, Best Scripts, Best Actress, Best Support Role, Best Production Design, Best International Feature) on international filmfestivals of Honolulu and Venezuela. His fourth feature film J. Kessels ( a.k.a. Road Duster ) came out in 2015. It won the Binger Pitch Award and the Best Production Design Award on the Blow Up Film Fest of Chicago and Best Film in The Turin IFF. BEST DIRECTOR AWARD and Best Editor Award @ the Independent International Film Festival in Moscow, Best Feature Film , European Cinematography Awards. Best Actor ( Fedja van Huet), Maverick Movie Awards, Los Angeles. Also four nominations for the Golden Calfs, the Dutch Film Awards: Best Male Actor, Best Production Desigh, Best Camera and Best Sound Design. In 2016 it won the Golden Calf Best Dutch Film Production Design Award @ N.F.F. In 2017 the Best Drama Film Award and the Grand Prix @ the International Motor Film Festival, London. The Best Actor @ the International Maverick Movie Awards, Los Angeles, USA. In the same year, 2015, also directed the feature length Telefilm HOPE, starring award winning actors Monic Hendrickx and Gene Bervoets. Then he directed three episodes of the successful tv series Celblok H. ( Wentworth ). His third feature film, a comedy THE PRESIDENT, which was released in september 2011. He made two music documentaries Guitar Kids ( NTR), and Racoon; Blue Days, Song Days. Then directed three episodes of the popular tv series Smeris. In September 2007, at the Dutch Film Festival, NADINE, the second feature film was released. The film, starring Monic Hendricx, Halina Reijn and Sanneke Bos was Opening Film at the International Mannheim Heidelberg. After this feature he directed the 6 episode costumedrama THE THRONE. His first feature film WILD MUSSELS was opening film at the Dutch Film Festival in 2000. The film was nominated for Best Script and Best Actor, it received the Dutch Film Critics Award of Best Film 2000,the Stimulation Award from the Amsterdam Arts Foundation and the Youth Award for Best Film. It won several other prizes such as the Russian Film Critic Award at the Internationals Film Festival in Moscow. He also directed commercials for amongst others Heineken, Smiths, Campina, Unilever, Dutch Taxes, KPN, Campina, Nastro Azurro. ERIK DE BRUYN studied Film Arts at the University of Amsterdam and film at the Free Academy of the Hague.
