Date of death : 02/13/1946
City of birth : London, England, UK

After serving in the US Army during World War I, British-born Harold S. Bucquet entered the film business, first as an extra and then as a set designer. He became an assistant to director Allen Holubar, and later was hired as an assistant director at MGM--a studio where he was to spend the rest of his career--in the shorts department and directed screen tests. He made his first feature in 1938, Young Dr. Kildare (1938). He was entrusted with an "A" feature such as Dragon Seed (1944) every so often, but his output was mainly "B" pictures, though at MGM they were often more polished and professional than many other studios' "A" pictures. He had to leave his last film, The Green Years (1946), because of illness, and died not long afterward.
