Langhorne Burton born in Somersby in 1872, popular on stage from 1900 including 'Sapho' directed by Olga Nethersole at the Daly's Theatre in 1908. Became a well-known matinée idol in many drama and crime films with the London (Globe) Film Company in 1914, perhaps best remembered in the title role of 'Tom Jones' directed by Edwin J. Collins and co-starring with Sybil Arundale for the Ideal Film Company in 1917 and also in the role of Arthur Clenman in Sidney Morgan's 'Little Dorrit' in 1920 co-starring Joan Morgan for the Progress Film Company, he was last seen on screen in a supporting role as The Lawyer in 'Cross Roads' starring Percy Marmont in 1930. He died in Weymouth in 1949 aged 77.
