Sky Callahan was born in Sagamihara, Japan, the son of a career Army officer and his wife, and spent his childhood primarily in Texas. Throughout his adult life, he has worked in numerous media roles, ranging from radio broadcasting to film production, and achieved a small degree of notoriety in 1995 when he was abducted and beaten by agents of the Guatemalan Military Intelligence organization (G-2) while filming a documentary on human rights abuses in that country. He has worked and lived in numerous cities, including Los Angeles, New Orleans, Dallas and Montreal, but now permanently resides in Seattle, Washington.
