“In this business, until you're known as a monster, you're not a star.” Bette Davis was an American actress, one of the most iconic of Hollywood's golden age. She became interested in acting at a very young age, attended the John Murray Anderson School of Drama in New York, and then began her career on Broadway. Some time later, she signed a contract with Warner Bros. and began her film career, in which she played strong, independent women with complicated personalities. Although she is known for playing villains, she has also explored other genres and did not hesitate to take on any role, always giving her best. She was an empowered woman in a male-dominated industry, and her career spanned more than fifty years. She taught Hollywood to follow the actress instead of the actress following the camera. Many of her films became historic landmarks, and her performance was pivotal. She was nominated for the Academy Award ten times, winning twice with Dangerous (1935) and Jezebel (1938). Other of her best-known films are: All About Eve (1950), What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), Dark Victory (1939), Now, Voyager (1942), among others. Her charisma and extraordinary ability to convey emotions consolidated her as one of the most respected and admired actresses in history.

No Bad Or Real Women in 'Feud: Capote vs. The Swans'

After devouring Feud: Bette and Joan, I am totally pumped for the second season. But, after a few episodes of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, I gotta say... I am kinda bored by it. It is a continuation of feuds from the previous season. It's all about Truman Capote (Tom Hollander), a famous writer, and his on-and-off relationships with super glamorous New York socialites whom he calls "the Swans." The cast brims with big names like Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Calista Flockhart, Demi Moor

This essay is a reflection on 'the moment of truth'. Here are some thoughts of life that linger as I finish a film or a book, as I remember devouring movies back in 1990s, when I was in my twenties. I have watched movies the way I read the person, the character or the persona. And there is also almost always a reminder of a book I have r

Emma Stone & Other Multi-Oscar Queens

The suspense surrounding whether Emma Stone could clinch her second Best Actress Oscar might have been one of the biggest question marks of the just-concluded 96th Academy Awards. Now that the suspense has been lifted, it's both surprising and within expectations. She secured her second Oscar for Best Actress with "Poor Things," defeating four strong contenders (Lily Gladstone in "Killers of the Flower Moon," Sandra Hüller in "Anatomy of a Fall," Carey Mulligan in "Maestro," and Annette Bening i
