Ken Weiss was born and raised in New York City. As a music lover from early childhood, he discovered the worlds of live stage performance, music publishing and music production. He began his formal music career during a three year stint at Warner Chappell Music during which his associations with diverse songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Stephen Stills led to his venturing out as an independent. With Gold Hill Music he led one of the industry's most successful independent music publishing companies garnering multi-gold and platinum albums with Crosby, Stills & Nash (and Young), Firefall, Stephen Stills, Fleetwood Mac and numerous others. With his company Bronx Flash Music he signed composer Frank Wildhorn whose "Jekyll & Hyde" stage production, after a five year Broadway run is a theatrical mainstay throughout the world. The four time Tony nominated "Jekyll" is slated to return to Broadway in 2013. Ken's company picked up with rights to "The Scarlet Pimpernel," a three year Broadway and touring hit with three Tony nominations, "The Civil War" with two Tony nominations and then later with Broadway's "Dracula-The Musical" now touring the world in extended runs. The musicals "Wonderland" opened on Broadway in April of 2011 and later opening in 2011 was "Bonnie and Clyde" a two time Tony nominee. The musicals "Carmen," "The Count of Monte Cristo," "Rudolf" and "Tears From Heaven" are international successes in both live stage performance and soundtrack recordings. As a film and television Music Supervisor Ken has supervised music for comedy specials featuring Rickey Smiley, Katt Williams, Joan Rivers, Jay Leno, and many others. He was also Music Supervisor for the groundbreaking live music concert series "Rock N' Roll Tonite" which aired Saturday nights on NBC. Extending his music supervision work to feature films, Ken has worked with prominent producers and directors such as Jason Alexander, Thomas Bliss, Jean Doumanian, Mel Gibson, Keith Gordon, Leon Ichaso, Steve Tisch, and others. He also produced the acclaimed Universal soundtrack album of "Piñero" and the DH1 Studios soundtrack release of "The Singing Detective." Ken is a Grammy voting member of both The Recording Academy and The Latin Grammys. He has been awarded 20 Gold, Platinum and multi-Platinum record awards and numerous industry achievement citations.
