Peter Ashmore was one of Britain's foremost theatre directors from 1947 when he directed his first big London West End hit, "Edward, My Son", through to 1961 when he directed his last play, the unsuccessful "Mr Rhodes." He worked continuously throughout this period, directing plays in London's West End. He also directed several plays in New York, including "Legend of Lovers" (1951) with Richard Burton and Dorothy McGuire and "The Master of Thornfield with Errol Flynn (1958).
