The son of a Russian father and Italian mother, he began filmmaking at the age of 14. Having purchased a 16mm movie camera, he began writing scripts, making home films and films for school in addition to helping edit and provide stock footage for other student's films. His first commercial success came at the age of 15, when he sold film footage of local firefighters battling a burning farm to the fire department for use as training material. After a stint in the U.S. Navy, he married and pursued careers in real estate and communications, not returning to the film industry until 1992, when while visiting the set of Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992), he managed to sneak onto the set and worked as an Extra for three days, never having been hired or paid. He began training at The Second City and other acting schools in Chicago during which time he became a regular as a Capone "Goon" on the TV series The Untouchables (1993). Remembering his roots as a student filmmaker, he continued to perform in student films as well as local theatre. In 1996 he relocated to Los Angeles where he now resides.
