British actor Darren Bancroft was born in Leicester in 1973. As a teenager he was a member of the Leicestershire Youth Theatre and caught the acting bug when he performed, as a 16 year old, in a production of 'The Threepenny Opera' at the 1989 Edinburgh Festival. After several more youth theatre and school productions and with plenty of encouragement from his drama teacher he decided to pursue a career in acting. In 1991 he was offered a place at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, (now Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance) graduating in the summer of 1994. The same year he made his professional acting & screen debut in the BBC courtroom drama 'Crown Prosecutor'. Numerous screen credits were to follow which include, 'The Capture' ''Coronation Street', 'Code Of A Killer', 'Hollyoaks', 'Casualty', 'The Job Lot', 'Eastenders', 'The Bill' 'Doctors', 'Dream Team', 'Heartbeat', 'Goodnight Sweetheart' 'The Tudors', 'Titanic Town & 'Endgame' Roles on stage include playing Jim in the highly acclaimed Derby Theatre production of 'Brassed Off' and Carlson in a UK tour of 'Of Mice And Men' for Selladoor Worldwide.
