Ida Joyce Barker was born on 29 November 1934 in Mineola, Long Island. In January 1950, Joyce started to attend the School of Performing Arts in New York. One of her first roles was as a singer for the St. John Terrell's Music Circus in Lambertville, New Jersey. Between June and October 1953, Joyce acted in four different plays: 1. Frou Frou in The Merry Widow 2. Violet in Wonderful Town 3. Cora Belmont in By The Beautiful Sea 4. Ayah The Princess Zubbediya of Damascus in Kismet Joyce played the part of Lady Stutfield in After the Ball. She also had parts in Anything Goes, Wish You Were Here and Me and Julie. Between 1953 and 1961, Joyce listed with the Lucy Kroll Agency at 119 West 57th Street in New York City. In 1954, Joyce sang in the chorus of South Pacific. In March 1956, Joyce sang in the play Damn Yankees, produced by the First National Broadway Company at the National Theatre in Washington, DC. She later moved to the role of 'Gloria' in the play. Between 1956 and 1957, Joyce worked as a dancer in the show 'Pajama Game' at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. A newspaper article describing the show said, "One of the dancers, Joyce Barker, is a look-a-like for Marilyn Monroe." During 1957, Joyce played the Swede in the film Take Five From Five by Alan Friedman, Dorothy Raison and Allen Rivkin. On 20 May 1958, the Universal International movie Girls on the Loose opened at the RKO Albee Theatre in Brooklyn, New York. Joyce co-starred with Maria Corday as members of an all-girl gang. Joyce's role was 'Joyce Johanneson'. In 1960, Joyce acted in one or more episodes of The Secret Storm (1954 - 1974). From June to August 1966, Joyce acted in several plays at the Southbury Playhouse in Southbury, Connecticut. She played Irene Wilson in Under The Yum Yum Tree, Judith in Boeing-Boeing, and Frances Black in Light Up The Sky. From August to September 1966, Joyce played Alida Bloodgood in the play The Streets of New York at the Eagles Mere Playhouse in Eagles Mere, Pennsylvania. Joyce acted in the television soap operas As The World Turns, Somerset, Love is a Many Splendored Thing, Search for Tomorrow and as Lucy Stokes in the soap, The Secret Storm. From March to April 1967, at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey, Joyce played the role of Dr. June Fuller in the musical On a Clear Day You Can See Forever by Alan Jay Lerner and Burton Lane. In 1967, Joyce played Miss Daugherty in a promotional play Once In a Lifetime for Volkswagen. In August 1969, she had a role in Strindberg's play A Man and A Man at the Mermaid Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark. In September 1969, Joyce played the roles of Madame X in The Stranger and Tekla in The Creditors. By 1975, Joyce had been in over 20 musicals, 35 TV commercials and appeared in six daytime TV drama series. On 28 February 1999, Joyce died in New York City.
