Pauline de Chalus

After appearing in two motion pictures, World War Two started in England, and teenage Pauline volunteered to drive a delivery truck that had been modified to become an ambulance. London was in flames with the nightly Blitz bombings, and with bombs dropping all around her, she bravely drove the streets of London, night after night, looking for wounded people to get to hospital. For the rest of her life she served her country, working on a United Nations Relief organization, then for 'Barts' hospital in the east end of London, then working for the British Foreign Office, until she retired in 1982.
