Born in Mons, Severine De Streyker moved to Brussels in 1992. She graduated in cinema studies at Inraci in 1995 and obtained a licence in Screenwriting from the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 1997, while simultaneously attending evening classes in painting at the Academie des Beaux Arts and theatre at Studio Parallax. Upon completion of her studies, she immediately starts work as editor for the film director and anarchist Jan Bucquoy, for whom she edits 3 feature-length films, thus mastering underground film. She then goes on to work with other, more mainstream, Belgian directors (Jean-Marc Vervoort, Manuel Poutte, Michael Alalouf....). She specializes in the editing of fiction as well as documentaries and also produces current events features for channels such as CNN, ARTE, RTBF and France 24. She regularly abandons her editor's post to produce her own silent short films and video clips in Super 8 or on video. And as one of the founding members of "LABO" (8 and 16 mm-film workshops, in residence at Recyclart since 2006 and now also at MAAC), she and her follow "laboratorians" regularly produce experimental audiovisual performances. Despite obviously mastering the medium of images best, Severine De Streyker is consistently attracted to other forms of expression that could possibly enlighten her world. In 2004, she joins the Electroclash group "Emma Peal" as bassist and singer. Their first album is released in 2006, on the international label PIAS. Her new band, 'Sorry', a duo formed with Thomas Gillon explores the pure rock style, without electronic sounds. It is with "LABO" that she produces several Super8 clips for bands: Music Machine, Welcome to Joy, Joystix, Emma Peal (her own band), Goudi...etc In January 2011, she finalizes as director the short film "Cine Palace", filmed in Brussels. For this film, she was part of the writing team as well as the musical interpretation with Marc Lallemand, formerly of PONI. In March 2017, her last film 'Calamity', co-directed with Maxime Feyers releases.
