Her name literally translates to "Little Mary of the Tower". Now a resident of Los Angeles, California, the native Texan has roots in Mexico from grandparents of Spanish, German, Aztec and Mayan descent. Born in the City of Brownsville, Texas, she also spent childhood years in the neighboring town of Matamoros, Tamaulipas. She attended the prestigious all-women school of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri after graduating from Brownsville's Homer Hanna She also attended TX A&M-Kingsville and studied under her mentor, Doctor David Deacon. Marita attended the Cannes International Festival with the short film, "Botes Al Amanecer" where she plays a doting, single mother to young Ernesto as we see the world through his eyes. She also played Letty in the film, "When I Grow Up"; one of nine films to tour the US and Canada in 2012-2013 as part of the popular and cause worthy Luna Fest Film Festival. Marita co-founded and produces the Highland Park Independent Film Festival. She is a Principal at the production company MUD Productions, LLC. Marita produces theater, performing arts and visual art events with the long-standing organization the Arroyo Arts Collective and Teatro Arroyo. She served as Executive Director of LUPE Arte, a non profit in Austin,Texas aiding underprivileged students from 2006 to 2010. She is an avid football fan and her teams to no surprise, are the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. She continues her charitable work in Los Angeles with various causes including support of Shelter Partnership. A sports enthusiast, she was a track and field runner and hurdler, basketball and volleyball player and cheerleader in High School. She now plays softball and golf and enjoys skiing and hiking.
