Robert Donavan dabbled with acting for some time before getting serious about the art. He admittedly neglected his training as a young man, but has embraced the idea of studying technique and theory, and then practicing them in the films he has appeared in. He is currently studying with Kimberly Jentzen, and has studied with Lurene Tuttle, Harvey Lembeck, Robert F. Lyons, and James Best. He has worked with directors Brandon Slagle, Robin Christian, Rolfe Kanefsky, Elliot Feld, Wayne Kramer, Fred Olen Ray, David DeCoteau, Thomas Callaway, and Jim Wynorsky. The number of films Robert Donavan has appeared in over 60 feature films. They cross genres from comedy, to drama, to science fiction, the supernatural, and to horror. He has portrayed scientists, secret agents, border patrol officers, military officers, FBI agents, drug dealers, psychiatrists, morticians, cowboys, and disgraced priests. The voice over industry has been a good fit for him, having voiced quite a few commercials, and was until this year, the voice of Yahoo Fantasy Football, and the Toyota Fantasy Football Hall of Fame. Retirement is not in Robert Donavan's vocabulary, and he has said he fully expects to work through lunch on the day of his funeral.
