Doris Carey

A loyal member of SAG/AFTRA, Doris has worked as a principal, supporting actor and co-star on independent film and major studio productions. She considers it an honor to have worked with Tom Selleck, John Travolta, Judd Nelson and Robert Duvall, who once said to her, "the camera loves you." A few of her most cherished stage roles are Ruth in "A Raisin in the Sun" and the Lady in Red in "for colored girls who have considered suicide when the rainbow is enuf." Also a Registered Nurse, Doris is as comfortable in medical settings as she is on a set. She admits, "acting and medicine are both in my blood." People often recognize her warm, soothing voice, which she attributes to years of talking to babies in the neonatal intensive care unit. She studied with the brilliant acting teacher, Harry Mastrogeorge, who she says changed everything. Doris graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing from Murray State University. She enjoys writing poetry, swimming and walking in the woods. Doris spent her childhood in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, climbing trees, swimming in the warm ocean and running everywhere she went. She's lived in Hawaii and California, and now calls Atlanta, the Hollywood of the South, her home.
