Spanish 'tonadillera' (little tune singer, literally) and actress who had a stirring and passionate style, one of the greatest 'copla' (Spanish popular song) performers. She was yet known in Andalusia when she appeared in Barcelona in 1929 with a variety show named 'La copla andaluza', where she was the first star together with 'Ángel Sampedro 'Angelillo''. From that moment on she enjoyed success all over Spain, Europe and America. As a cinema actress she made many folkloric musicals, including _Suspiros de España (1938)_ and _Maja del capote, La (1943)_.
