Don Cely is a South Carolina native who got his start in low-budget films in the 1970s. He met gaffer John Drake a small picture shot in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Drake, in turn, introduced him to cinematographer Paul Elliot who hired Don directly for several feature films. Don later became known for his work on My Girl (1991), Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988), Far From Home (1989), Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael (1990), Claire (2001).
