John Cho

John Cho pursued his artistic formation at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature. While teaching at Pacific Hills School in West Hollywood after college, he also acted with East West Players in Los Angeles. He began on stage and extended into television and film, taking guest-roles, recurring parts, and leading television roles. Cho developed voice work and musical output; he leads a band formerly known as Left of Zed (later Viva La Union). His collaborating partners include writers, directors, casting executives who supported casting him in roles to broaden representation. His working methods involve choosing parts that challenge stereotypes, negotiating character development when scripts impose traits, and moving between ensemble and lead parts.
