Jonathan trained at Mountview Academy in London, where he won a place on the 3 year Acting & Musical Theatre course He played the role of Mike Carter in the BIFA nominated feature "Sam Jackson's Secret Video Diary" and in 2014 he portrayed the politician Nick Clegg in a political broadcast short for the Green Party. In 2020 he appeared as King Charles I in a film for Historic Royal Palaces, released to mark the anniversary of Charles's execution. On stage, he has played roles from Mercutio and the Roman Emperor Caligula, to the comedy writer Johnny Speight, creator of Alf Garnett, a performance of which The Times review noted: "Clarkson brilliantly evokes the sourly anarchic wit that animated Speight". A resident of South London since 1996, in 2010 he adapted "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" for the Jack Studio Theatre. After a sell-out run at the Jack, the rights were taken up by the Palace Theatre, Watford, for a further production the following year. He continues to work across film, theatre and commercials, and has written a novel.
