Ángeles Cruz

Actress, screenwriter, and director from the Indigenous community of Villa Guadalupe Victoria in Oaxaca, brings to her films themes such as domestic violence, lesbianism, childhood, death, the consequences of migration, and community life. Her incursion into screenwriting and film directing took place in 2012 with the short film “La Tiricia o cómo curar la tristeza”, which traveled to a large number of festivals and won her several awards, including the “Ariel” for Best Short Film. In 2013 she wrote and directed the short film “La Carta”, which also successfully toured several festivals around the world, obtaining, international national awards. In 2018 he wrote and directed the short film “Arcángel”, produced like the previous works, by IMCINE, obtaining several awards. “Nudo mixteco”, his debut film with a script also of his authorship, was released in 2021 and addresses the sexuality of Indigenous women of the high Mixtec community through three different stories.
