Jo Ann Greer was a popular band vocalist who began singing in the late 1940's and made many Hollywood connections through her first marriage to pianist Freddie Slack. Morris Stoloff, musical director for Columbia Pictures, used her as the "ghost" singer for many actresses, most prominent of whom was Rita Hayworth, who Greer dubbed in the films "Affair in Trinidad," "Miss Sadie Thompson" and "Pal Joey." She also sang for Gloria Grahame in "Naked Alibi," Carole Mathews in "Meet Me at the Fair," Charlotte Austin in "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder," Esther Williams in "Jupiter's Darling," June Allyson in "The Opposite Sex," and Susan Kohner in "Imitation of Life." She began singing and recording with Les Brown's orchestra in the early 1950's and remained with the band for more than 30 years, touring throughout the world into the early 1990's. She also made several recordings with Ray Anthony's band, including the hits "Wild Horses" and "The Hokey Pokey." In 1991, she joined forces with two other former "ghost" singers - Annette Warren and India Adams, and created a popular cabaret show called "Voices-Hollywood's Secret Singing Stars."
