Jay Ferguson is an Emmy Award-winning Writer, Director, Producer, and Cinematographer whose cutting-edge work has garnered him acclaim across the world. His series Guidestones - won an International Emmy, which was one of 77 major awards and nominations. The series has also won the triple crown of Canadian accolades; The Rockie, The Digi and the Canadian Academy Award. Jay was one of ten Canadians in the culture industry named last year by The Globe and Mail as a CATALYST for his groundbreaking work. This past year his company Mira produced three series for the inaugural launch of the groundbreaking digital platform Blackpills. Jay produced two of the series, wrote two of them and directed and shot one. Jay has contributed as a writer, director, producer and cinematographer on over 15 feature films. His work with institutions such as The National Film Board of Canada has garnered him acclaim, including winning the top cinematography award at the Atlantic Film Festival for the documentary Animals. He has also won the Canadian Society of Cinematographers top award for cinematography for Inside Time and has been nominated for this award numerous other times for such projects as Animals, Alter Egos and Guidestones. In 2005 he was nominated for a Gemini award and won top honors at various film festivals for his work on La Mule et Les Emeraude and My Dog Vincent. Besides features and documentaries, Jay also has 12 years of experience in commercial production. He has directed and shot spots for CIBC Wood Gundy, GolfTown, Nike, Spalding, The Shaw Theater Festival, Sail, and BCS. In 2015 Jay directed and shot The Nations! (2016), a digital series starring Sean Cullen for CBC that aired in early 2016. It was shot across Canada and New Zealand. Jay's first feature film, Suburban Legend was selected for official competition at the 1996 Montreal International Film Festival and won the best director at the RPM film festival in Toronto. His second feature Posthumous was shortlisted for official competition at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001. Jay is CEO of the Toronto based production company Mira. Mira works in many formats including commercial, digital, documentary and dramatic content.
