Miguel's passion for film led him away from pre-med studies to earn a degree in Cinema Studies from the University of Toronto, where his Super-8 comedy, "Washday", won a Hart House Film Board award. He later pursued a more hands-on film education in Los Angeles, graduating from the Producer's Program at the American Film Institute's Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies. Returning to Canada, Miguel produced, wrote, and directed over 300 videos for Fortune 500 companies. He created and taught the seminar The Secrets of Successful On-Screen Auditions at Toronto's New School of Drama. In 1995 Miguel supervised the Canadian Film Centre's short film exercises. Since joining the Directors Guild of Canada Miguel has worked steadily as an Assistant Director on international productions in Canada, the U.S.A., Mexico, Cuba, and Romania. He designed and teaches the DGC's Movie Magic Scheduling workshops. Canadian-born of Spanish parents, he is fluent in English and Spanish, and holds Canadian and Spanish (EU) passports.
