While growing up in Detroit, Gerin's father died when he was just fourteen and his mother was working up to three jobs. While still living in Detroit, Gerin made his professional wrestling debut in 1994 in the independent circuit. Then in 1995, he started working for World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as a jobber (someone who loses almost every match). Soon, he won the World Title for the Pro Wrestling Worldwid (PWW). During this time, he was part of a team called "Thug Life" which had top wrestlers of today such as 'Christian Cage' and 'Joe Legend'. However, it was in 1999, that Gerin wrestled under the name "Rhino" when he won the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) World Heavyweight Chmapionship in 1999 and became a star. He thanked Paul Heyman, the former owner of ECW, for making him a star. When ECW was starting to go out of business, Rhino made his WWF/E (World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment) debut at WrestleMania 17 under slightly different name from his old name: Rhyno. After being released from the WWE with his good friend _Matt Hardy_, Rhyno is now working Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) Wrestling. There, He won the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) World Heavyweight Championship.
