The second of six children born to Marcella and Lester Gomez Sr., Glen grew up first in the Irish Channel area of New Orleans, then in suburban parts of the city. He graduated in 1974 from West Jefferson High School in the New Orleans suburb, Harvey. He continued to act in theatre and do commercial work and industrial films, in New Orleans and Houma, Louisiana (where he now lives, with his wife, Stephanie) until 2007. In that year, an inability to remember memorized dialogue became evident during a Houma production of Neil Simon's play "Rose's Dilemma." Subsequent tests resulted in a diagnosis of the early on-set of Alzheimer's Disease. This has caused him to cease acting, although he still directs plays occasionally in Houma.
