The younger generations haven't got the chance to discover or meet this remarkable Lady of the Romanian theatre. The elderly people might have seen her in "The Death of an Artist" by Horia Lovinescu, "The Visit of the Elderly Lady" by Francisc Durrenmatt or in "Sundown" ("Doamna Maria" character) together with the regretted actor George Calboreanu. She impersonated "Zoe" from "A Letter Lost". She gave life to in-numerous characters from plays by Lucian Blaga, G.M.Zamfirescu, Mihail Sorbul, B.P.Hasdeu, etc. Her first major role was "Duchess Tatiana Petrovna" in "Mates", a comedy by J. Deval, the lovely "Aimee", "Marianne" in "The Miser", and "Lotte" from "The Torments of Young Werther", "Cressida" from "Troilus and Cressida", "Camille", etc. The plays in which she performed throughout the years were directed by Ion Sahighian, Soare Z.Soare, Vasile Enescu. Her partners were Aura Buzescu, Cella Dima, Nicolae Brancomir, Al.Critico, Ion Manu, Marioara Voiculescu, R. Bulfinski, Sonia Cluceru, Aglae Metaxa, Silvia Dumitrescu-Timica and many more. Elvira Godeanu performed in movies of great importance of her epoch such as "The Major Mura" and "Ciuleandra". She always stated that the happiest moment of her life was her marriage with Emil Prager. Two of the most unpleasant moments were her mother's death in the same morning of the "Camille" performance's day when she "lived on stage the death of her mother". The second was the death of her husband, Emil Prager, at 96. She also felt pain in the moment of her retirement. This woman never knew the feeling of enviousness nor she was invidious on beauty, success or wealth. God guided her so and through that He gave her happiness.
