Arthur Knight was a popular film historian best known for his pioneering history of the cinema, The Liveliest Art: A Panoramic History of the Movies (1957) as well as for his long running column in Playboy magazine, "Sex in the Cinema." Knight also taught film history at USC and participated in numerous documentaries and radio programs on cinema history over the course of his long and dynamic career.
