Born in Wiesbaden, West Germany where father was a Captain and surgeon in U.S. Army medical corps. Family moved to Fort Bragg, N.C. in 1964 and to Los Angeles in 1965. Married to producer Charisse McGhee Lazarou, formerly VP of Primetime Series at NBC and ranked as the 81st Most Powerful person in Hollywood by Entertainment Weekly magazine. The couple was featured in a network news segment, "Living Black and White in Hollywood" They have four children and reside in Los Angeles.
