Belgian theater actor Francis Lemaire is best remembered for his role of 'Oeil de Perdrix' in René de Obaldia's famous absurd play "Du vent dans les branches de sassafras". When the play moved from Brussels to Paris, he followed suit and happened to have Michel Simon as a partner there. Besides his activities on the boards and on television he played thirty-odd roles for the seventh art, but never found one in which he could particularly assert himself as THE character actor very much in demand. He embodied most of the time Belgian-born characters or authority figures.
