Born in London, Toby developed his skills working in feature films, commercials and music videos and made his debut, The Cookie Thief (1999) and secured a Palme d'Or nomination at Cannes and was short listed for a BAFTA nomination. The film starred Jack Davenport and Honor Fraser and was screened at over 20 festivals worldwide. Sales were completed to Canal Plus, Canal International, Channel 4. Co-directed the the concert film and documentary of Pete Townshend's The Lifehouse Concert (2000) project, streamed on MCY and Pete Townshend's website and subsequently released on DVD. The film won the Yahoo Online Music Event of the year. Directed Fat Chance (2001) for Film 4. Fat Chance was nominated for best short at the Rushes Soho Short Film Festival and shown as part of the Kodak Cinematography Showcase at BAFTA. The film aired on Channel 4 and Film Four. Co-wrote and Directed The Pro (2008), a black comedy set in the world of parochial England's golfing community, starring Richard Coyle (Coupling) Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead) and Mark Heap (Green Wing, Spaced and Big Train).
