“Hell, I ain’t paid to make good lines sound good. I’m paid to make bad lines sound good”. Walter Huston was a Canadian film and stage actor, and one of the most prominent between the 30's and 40's in the United States. In his youth, while working in construction, he began attending the Shaw School of Acting and soon made his debut in theater, touring some plays until 1909. In 1924 he began his career on Broadway with the play Mr. Pitt, and consolidated with roles in productions such as Desire Under the Elms, Kongo, The Barker, and Elmer the Great. His fame in the world of cinema coincided with the arrival of sound films in Hollywood, and he was chosen to play several roles, getting his first important role in The Virginian (1929). Some of his most recognized works were Dodsworth (1936) Knickerbocker Holiday (1938) and The Treasure of Sierra Madre, film for which he won the Oscar Award for Best Supporting Actor. Walter excelled both on stage and screen, and inspired future generations of his family to continue his artistic legacy.
