Living in North Spain, Angel Illarramendi is one of the most gifted European composers for movies, a Basque talent who is known as the "Spanish Delerue." His unique talent in creating melodies, and his high sensibility put him on the higher places of the Spanish industry. There are great scores for a wide variety of movies: from the drama of Yoyes (2000) (with ethnic Basque sounds) to the adventure sound of The Island of the Crab (2000) (high symphonic score). He did thrillers (Presence of Mind (1999) [El Celo]), comedies (¡Buen viaje, excelencia! (2003)) and animation (King of the Farm (2002)). He has been working in South American movies as the highly acclaimed Son of the Bride (2001) and Avellaneda's Moon (2004). His name is attached to famous Spanish producer Elías Querejeta. The composer has been finalist for the Goya Awards of the Spanish Academy and won some CEC Awards. Actually, he is working on new movies as the high budget The Borgia (2006). Angel Illarramendi is a value destined to be on the top of the world of film music scoring.
