Enrique Irazoqui was a Spanish economics student, the son of a Spanish father and Italian mother, who after meeting in a political event was cast by Pasolini to play the role of Jesus in "The Gospel according to St. Matthew" (1964). After this film, Irazoqui was the leading actor in two films of the School of Barcelona, "Noche de vino tinto" and "Dante no es unicamente severo", both of 1966.
