Joni Jacobson's impressive experience in visual effects spans both the creative and business sides of the industry. She began her career as a designer at Landor Assocs.; one of the largest and most prestigious packaging and corporate ID companies in the world. After discovering the enhanced capabilities of using computers for design, she moved into digital art and became a highly respected, sought after commercial compositing artist. She landed at a company called CIS. This company had technological patents which at the time made them the only place in the world to do high end film to digital visual effects. She worked at CIS for 9 years as an artist, creative director, and pioneer in the vfx field, on high end music videos and TV commercials for large corporate clients. She also helped launch and design the corporate ID for their sister company, the world re-known film lab, EFilm. As an artist, she also worked staff and freelance for many prominent visual effects company's including Digital Domain, Rhythm & Hues, Sony Pictures Imageworks, A52, DreamQuest, Asylum and the Orphanage. In 2002, she opened her own VFX company and began visual effect supervising jobs as well as vfx producing the work. Through her company, she worked on many films including Zodiac, League of Extraordinary Gentleman, Flight of the Phoenix, Aviator, The Core, Mr & Mrs Smith, Life Aquatic and Swordfish. With the experience gained from running her own company, she moved fully on to the producer side and was tapped to become an executive in charge of production & marketing for Industrial Light & Magic (ILM). Here she had the pleasure of working with some of the top VFX supervisors in the world. After ILM, she joined the visual effects company CafeFX where she was their executive producer for several years, before moving to Pixomondo. Joni joined Pixomondo in 2009, when the company had just opened an office in Los Angeles and was virtually unknown. She was instrumental in introducing the company to key people in the VFX industry and strategizing with the owner to help it successfully grow into the global and internationally recognized company it is today. Besides assisting with the overall business strategy and business development for the company, she also helped on the feature film side with key staffing, contracting, invoicing, payment schedules, film incentives and overseeing projects from award to final delivery. While at Pixomondo, Joni was the executive producer on many projects including Wonder Woman, Dark Tower, Fate of the Furious, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, The Power Rangers, Marco Polo season 1 & 2, Bridge of Spies, Live By Night, The Promise, Oblivion, Agents of Shield, Furious 7, The Amazing Spiderman, Sucker Punch and Snow White and the Huntsman. During her time there, the company won an Oscar for Hugo and 3 Emmys for their work on the dragons in Game of Thrones. She left Pixomondo in September 2017 and has since done VFX consulting work for Luma Pictures, Imperative Entertainment, Bottleship VFX and Netflix. In December of 2018, Joni joined Digital Domain has their Executive Producer of Feature Films.
