Born in Montréal, Québec, an eleventh generation Black Canadian with American and aboriginal Mi'kmaq ancestry, Michael Jarvis began his passion for cinema working as an usher at the Faubourg movie theatre. After attending L'École Du Cinema Mel Oppenhimer Film (Concordia University), Michael formed RecFilm (Les Productions Réconnaissance Film). He raised $30,000 hard cash working five part-time jobs to write, produce, and direct a 17-minute film about a legendary Black Lunarian, "Mathieu Da Costa The Untold Story Part 1". The film was picked up by a local television broadcaster, CJNT, and won a Reel Black Award at the Toronto Film Festival. Michael then received a second research grant from Canadian Heritage, raised some private cash from south of the border, Figure IV Entertainment (N.Y). He went on to shoot a short controversial film entitled "Angélique". Nominated for Best Short Film, Best Actress, the story is based upon the true story Marie Josephe Angélique, a Montreal slave accused of burning down Montreal in 1734. The film faced scrutiny because Michael took the position she did not set the fire. On April 11, 2006, 300 years to the day the city was engulfed in flames, her case was declared a "miscarriage of justice" and the Governor General of Canada, Hatienne-Born Michaëlle Jean, citing "sweet revenge", dedicated a plaque in her honor on the site of her alleged crime. Michael moved to Hollywood North, Toronto, Canada to direct a Cirque Du Soleil feature variety-documentary entitled Acrobats and Maniacs (2004, Highlander Productions, Canada, 52mins, Spectra International Distribution. Syndication: APTV, HBO, A&E Bravo, NHK). In the picturesque city of Quebec, Canada, a former Street Busker, Michel Rousseau, is forced to stop performing because of an accident that resulted in two broken wrists. Now Michel must pass on his determination and skills to his new troop Chapito during a week preceding the show release. In 2005, Michael formed Darchién Pictures Inc. (DPI) and partnered up with Jeremy Hood. He went on to direct a teaser for the epic screenplay entitled "King of The Blacks, The Grave before the Chains" starring Oscar-Emmy award winning actor Louis Gossett Jr. Michael then shot three reality series pilots and completed a music video "Octagon" (Muchmusic) for the artist "Little T". Currently, he has completed three music video's for the horror hip hop artist "OLI" and is slated to release a horror thriller short entitled "Horrorcore" (2017) while developing a number of Dramatic and Reality series & two new feature length films.
