Dorothy Kennedy

Dorothy Kennedy was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and attended the University of Minnesota, where she appeared in numerous plays. It was through the University of Minnesota Theatre Program that Dorothy met Warren Douglas Wandberg while she was rehearsing a featured role in "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Warren was starring in "Enemy of the People" at the request of the director even though he wasn't a student of the University. Warren would soon drop his last name, and shortly thereafter Dorothy would become Mrs. Warren Douglas. Dorothy starred in numerous Summer Stock plays before joining "The Oxford Players", Robert Breen's Federal Theatre program. This wing of President Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration, instituted in 1935, served to put people to work during the depression. Her performances received rave reviews, as did her beauty. Moving to Hollywood in the 1940s, she worked in television commercials, appeared in "Fireside Theatre" and "The Files of Jeffrey Jones" (1952), and in films, including "Cry Vengeance" (1954) and "Jack Slade" (1953).
