Jenny Lee Mitchell was born in New York City and trained at NYUs Experimental Theater Wing with a major in theater and second major in music. After performing in downtown theaters and spaces such as the Wooster Group and Pyramid Club jenny moved to Germany to study voice and worked in Europe for 18 years in musical theater and operetta as well as working in German film and TV. She worked with director Roman Polanski on Dance of the Vampires in Vienna and famous opera director Harry Kupfer on a Mozart bio. Other credits include: Fame, Hair, The Rocky Horror Show, and Ludwig II. Jenny moved back to New York City to pursue film and theater as well as the creation of her own work. In 2016 Jenny wrote and performed the solo cabaret show as the character Mad Jenny which features political songs from 1930s Weimar Germany about LGBT rights, women's rights and economic strife making fun of the upper crust. the NY Times called is "Smart and theater savvy". A jazz singer in her own right Jenny performs for the Jazz Foundation on the vintage schooner Shearwater Classic as well as venues around NYC and in Covid times in central Park where she can be seen as Muffy Styler, the blonde jazz scatter who tells really bad jokes. Muffy also hosts burlesque shows at the famed Slipper Room in NYC.
