Ian Kevin David Mitchell, Irish musician is best known for being the short-time bassist for the popular Scottish '70s band 'The Bay City Rollers' and Guitarist for pop group Rosetta Stone. Ian joined the 'Bay City Rollers' April 1, 1976 at 17 years old, replacing co-founder Alan Longmuir. Being in the band for just 7 months, Ian left the band November 10, 1976. However, Ian did participate in a 1980s reunion or two for the band. The late '80s saw him move to American for good. he eventually became a U.S. citizen. where he played in myriad of bands through the years. Ian had formed another band called 'Bay City Rollers featuring Ian Mitchell'. however, Ian was the only former Bay City Roller in his group. The line-up includes Craig Else (former member of the South African band Petit Cheval.), lead vocalist Eric Crabb, and Carlo Driggs formerly of Paul Revere and the Raiders. Ian Mitchell passed away September 2, 2020 at the age of 62. As a result to a short battle with Throat Cancer.
